Chip N Check Clinic: Keeping Pets Safe with Microchipping

I volunteered for over 10 years for a non profit, Registered Charity Facebook page that was created by my best friend. This wonderful page helps to reunite lost dogs and other pets/animals with their family. This Facebook page is still going strong and has wonderful volunteers. Some have been with the organization since the beginning. True animal lovers. ❤️
I learnt a lot from my term with this organization and one of them has to do with the above picture. We created an event called the Chip N Check clinic.

We would ask animal hospital if they could give us a discounted rate for micro chips and if they could pick a date that we could have our table set up at their hospital or clinic and they can insert microchips in the pets that come to this one day event . This Chip N Check clinic was not just for dogs but for any pets, so there were dogs, cats and I think there was a couple rabbits and and other animals that were brought in to be micro chipped…

The Check part of the clinic is where owners would bring their pets in to make sure that the microchip that their pet already has, is still working or has not migrated. We would use our chip reader to check for the chip. Once found, the scanner would give us the chip number. Each chip number is designated to a certain phone number. We would give the owner that number, and suggested they call it to confirm that their information such as phone number and address is correct. One owner did that and found out that none of their information was in the database. Things happen, so it’s always best to make sure that your information is in that database and correct. We also suggest that when your pet goes in for their annual checkup and shots, to get the micro checked at the same time.

What did you put on me mom?
